Lashing Bessie

Bessie is a unique girl. She does not enjoy other dogs in her space at all, she won’t actively engage with them and will warn them with a growl if they come too close. She is however very human focused; she loves people and is very affectionate. Bessie has been through foster care and this is her report:

Bessie has been an easy and enjoyable foster dog. She would make an ideal house pet for someone who would like a gentle, clean, playful companion. She is house trained, walks very quietly on lead, content to be left in the house or outside for extended time, good with food and loves people.

She is very settled around the house, she will lie beside you or in her bed. She stays in her own place overnight. She does like to collect items and bring them to you, she specializes in shoes and socks. Once they are collected she loses interest and doesn’t wreck anything or play with it. She stays in her bed area outside during the day and appears quite relaxed (no digging, barking or whining)

She walks on a loose lead and enjoys a walk. Although she notices wildlife and cats she doesn’t chase. She ignores loose running dogs and is therefore easy to walk in most settings (streets, shops, beach, bush). She travels well in the car but needs a lift to get her in. She waits patiently to be told to “hop out” once you reach your destination. She is very polite around food, she takes treats politely and eats calmly. She loves people and enjoys company. She snuggles close for a cuddle. She can become a bit excited to meet a new person but is easily calmed. She likes watching TV, especially cartoons and wildlife.

She is very comfortable in her own company and she doesn’t like to meet dogs at all and is best kept well away from any dog that might approach her. She will growl but hasn’t shown any tendency to bite or attack. Her personal space is bigger if there are more dogs but she can walk in a group once everyone is moving. She will not tolerate another dog in her house or if she visits another house.

Generally she is a manageable and amusing greyhound with a lovely demeanor except when close to other dogs.

Bessie is available for adoption to a home that understands her.
